Squirrels 5, OldRoses 1

Four more of my winter sowing containers have succumbed to the squirrels. I lost the Butterfly Weed, Gas Plant, Great Blue Lobelia and Red Swamp Milkweed. That's a total of five containers that they have destroyed.

But, while the squirrels were busy excavating my seedlings, they overlooked this:

Greenland Tulip

That's gardening. You win some, you lose some.

And what a lovely tulip it is. I have them too and find them to be very pretty and sturdy too. Pity about your containers though!

It sounds like you need to build a cage for your winter sowing.

Ah, that is a beautiful tulip. So glad they overlooked it.

I have Greenland tulips as well, I find them to be the hardiest tulips for me, they come back year after year, not going to pot like other tulips do in my garden.

I grew some of these too! I don't think the squirrels ate any. My cats eat lots of squirrels. :)
